| Alpharetta, GA. Briot USA, the leader in edging equipment innovation, will introduce the new Briot Alta automatic edging and drilling system at Vision Expo West.
The Briot Alta is the company's latest generation finishing equipment designed to make in-office processing of traditional and rimless eyewear easier and more reliable than ever.
"No other edging system in the marketplace combines all of the automatic labor-saving features found on the new Briot Alta," notes Bret Davis, president and CEO of Briot USA. "The Alta's user-friendly design, customizable machine settings and reliable performance provide superior processing of today's premium eyewear, including custom shaped rimless lenses."
The Alta finishes all lens types, and grooves, drills and safety bevels rimless lenses automatically. It incorporates Briot's patented digiform technology, which enables the operator to modify the size and shape of rimless lenses to create custom made eyewear easily and quickly.
Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, the Alta displays an image of the uncut rimless lens on its color touch screen, where it can be reshaped to accommodate a patient's cosmetic and lifestyle requirements.
"For example, patients may want to increase the lower B segment of progressive lenses to improve their field of vision, or widen the A measurement to enhance the appearance of the lenses," explains Davis. "The Alta makes it easy to create custom eyewear, and this provides a practice with a competitive advantage that can attract patients and build revenue."
The Briot Alta's advanced technology reduces the time and skill required to process rimless lenses. The system automatically identifies the exact placement of up to ten drill holes or slots on its touch screen, where adjustments can be made easily.
Once the lens is placed in the cutting chamber, the Alta grooves, drills and safety bevels automatically, tilting up to 30 degrees to accommodate high base curves. It eliminates handling the lens between steps, to increase speed and reduce spoilage.
Unique to the Briot Alta is the ability to customize the machine's settings, allowing the practice to choose the default settings and screen icons that correspond to the types of jobs processed most often.
The Briot Alta is a complete finishing system that performs all lens processing steps automatically. It traces frames with 5-D measurements, reads lens powers and finds the optical center automatically, blocks the lenses, edges all lens materials, safety bevels, grooves, drills and polishes automatically. It features automatic settings for hydrophobic AR-coated lenses, Trivex®, polycarbonate, high index and fragile lenses.
